Wierd kitchy road trip stops California and Oregon?

I am planning a road trip from Sacramento to Portland. What are some cool, creepy, utterly kitchy sites, stops worth taking? Please do not copy and paste from the AAA, travel channel or some general public travel guide! I don't care about 4 star hotels and tourist trapping infomercials.

I am looking for the lesser known, oddball stops. Some potential oddstop examples: the veterinarian office building shaped like a horse, the shoe repair shaped like a huge boot, the food stand shaped like a huge hot dog (such places like these exist in southern Cal), the largest ball of twine, the haunted hat factory, the tilted taco stand vortex, the front yard paperclip-coat hanger sculpture scene. So far I have only found the Oregon Vortex and a portland haunted tour. The quickest, best list matching my specs will win a best answer vote from me. Thanks!
