Mother (87) receives offer of AAA travel insurance. Has medicare and secondary. How necessary is AAA travel?

AAA supposedly offers direct payment for covered incidents. Small

print takes away long-term hospital payments and there are other

limitations.

Imagine she's all booked up to go to Australia passing by singapore and stopping 3 days at Dubai.

But some huge sandstorm hits Dubai, she loses her flight and gets stuck for 4 days at the Airport.

Travel insurance might send a car to pick her up, deliver her to the Hotel, pay for the hotel and generally take away all the hassle that she might otherwise go through, even if (when back home) she has medicare.

Btw, I don't think medicare would cover her in Zimbabwye or in North Korea.

So if she's likely to go backpacking (or deep sea diving?) around the world, I'd say AAA travel is necessary.

First of all, how much does your mother travel at age 87? If her current insurance covers her medical care, you don't need to buy for medical expenses.

Read the fine print, decide if she needs the protection and is it worth the cost.

? Where does she travel? And how often?

I just can't see someone that age, taking world cruises.
