How does one find and join one of those "travel clubs" that enable you to get 50% off in Hawaii hotels?

Last time I was in Honolulu, I searched in vain for a reasonably-priced hotel in a nice area (i.e., in or near Waikiki). And OFTEN was asked if I belonged to a "travel club." But NONE of the hotel clerks seemed to know how I could find or join such a club. Yet, they almost universally told me that my stay would only cost me about HALF as much if I could simply produce the necessary documentation of membership in one.

I'll soon be going back to Hawaii, and want to be armed with that, this time. Can you help me with the necessary details for finding and joining such a club?

BTW -- I was in AAA, but that didn't do it.

I would "put the nix" on those travel clubs. I really don't think it is worth the while. We are in one of those, and we haven't even used it yet!! That was money down the drain!

We have used AAA, and a travel agent (private company), and have gone on Expedia.com

It is up to you, but I would think twice about getting involved in a travel club.

beware of those "clubs" it cost thousands of dollars to be part of them and then you can only ue them so often. do research on them

I book condos and villas for travellers through vacation rentals site that deals with these types of places. The one I work with has RCI places. I am a travel agent and so to book condos and villas I use them, they are time shares and when the people are not in them we can buy into them.

As for doing them on your own, I would be a bit leary on it as you pay a high amount and you have to work your vacation around them.

I checked through the site I use and all of June, July and August are gone for Hawaii
