If you're driving, travel agencies don't carry road maps and they're not interested in booking a cheap motel along the freeway. (They'll go out of business doing that too often.) Use AAA since their motor club caters to drivers and carries road maps.
If you're flying, it usually doesn't matter. AAA is just like any other travel agency. There's no difference between them and other agencies unless they are offering a special discount for members.
You can also book it yourself over the Internet if you know what you're doing and you're willing to do your own research. However, it's not for everyone. I formerly worked for a travel website and saw some customers needlessly cost themselves extra money or book dumpy hotels because they didn't know what they were doing. A travel agent can be sometimes be cheaper because they may find deals that you'll miss or they may prevent you from making a mistake.
it's better, if you want to get the most value for your money, to do it all yourself. We go, with 4 adults and 3 children, for cheap because we research hotel specials, rental car rates, get disney passes from a disney broker, watch the food by eating breakfast in our room and bringing snacks and water, etc. If price in no object, I guess it doesn't matter who helps you. You CAN do a less expensive Disney vacation... Our hotel this time around (we're going in May) is $250 for a week per room, our passes cost about $220 per person and our food budget is really low, as usual. The whole trip for 8 days for 7 people is under $2500.
Book your travel yourself, that way you know exactly what you are doing and where you are going. Why pay someone to plan your vacation? Planning it is part of the fun.
