Yes, Many major credit cards now offer discounts for all realms of travel. Discounts in rental cars and hotels are typically given just by using the associated card. Then air miles is rewarded based on how much money you spend on your credit card then you give you points towards flights with major carriers. I don't want to be biased and direct you to one card however you can look at this helpfull website. http://www.mytravelcreditcards.com
Good Luck!
Yes. Travelocity, NW Air, Continental, to name a few. Most of the major airlines have travel clubs or discounts offered on hotel, air and rental, and sometimes cruises.
Take the time to shop around, though. Sometimes a more expensive travel package might be worth it because the guides are better, or the tour company has an "in" with the locals and gets better times, meal seatings, etc.
We travelled in northern Italy in 2000 and booked a Globus tour recommended by our Northwest Airlines representative. We saved hugely because the hotels, tours, tickets, buses and preference Globus got were superior to what we could have worked out on our own. We've done the same with a "taste of Britain" tour in 2001 with Globus and were very happy.
Absolutely.
