How do I get Orbitz to refund my monies for a trip that they could not find in their system for 11 months?

Date: Mon, 06 Nov 2006 18:57:01 -0500

From: OrbitzTLCService@orbitz.com

Dear Orbitz Customer,

Thank you for contacting Orbitz.

In reviewing your 'My Trips' and our reservation system, I show that you have a credit for future travel applied to your canceled reservation titled 'Kingston 12/25/05' under the e-mail address

'aaa@yahoo.com'.

When using the credit, please contact us via phone at 1-888-656-4546 where our representative will assist you in purchasing a reservation with the credit earned.

Expect to pay $100 airline imposed change fee, $30 Orbitz service fee and any difference in airfare per ticket.

The credit can only be used upto one year from the original date of

purchase of the canceled reservation i.e. until November 21, 2006.

Also, the credit from the canceled reservation can only be used by the person who was originally booked on the flight. The airline, too, has to be the same. The departure and destination cities can be different. However,

You need to walk down there in person and pistol whip somebody in the face.

It seems as if someone, under the address 'aaa@yahoo' canceled the trip to Kingston. If it was you, why didn't you ask for a refund at that time?

I don't know what the policy is for some of the on-line travel agents, but the face to face agents I've used have refunded my money less "fees". Orbitz should have done the same, unless their policy is re-book versus refund.

looks impossible to me based on these restrictions?

What does this article mean?? Mexico....?

Like a summary of it,

For those of you who were wondering if Mexico is keeping up with the U.S. in luxury tourism, the information below may be very useful for you. According to the 2008 AAA rating stats, Mexico leads North America in service, and quality standards for hotels, restaurants and attractions.

As North America’s largest motoring and leisure travel organization, AAA provides its 50 million members with travel, insurance, financial and automotive-related services. Since its founding in 1902, the not for profit, fully tax paying AAA has been a leader and advocate for the safety and security of all travelers.

2008 MEXICO AAA RATING STATISTICS FOR USE BY TRAVEL & TOURISM AUTHORITIES:

For 2008 AAA inspected and rated 32,000 Hotels & 28,000 restaurants with the same

AAA rating criteria, 1-5 Diamond in North America - 3% of all hotels rated were 4 Diamond and .27% were 5 Diamond.

Mexico Statistics:

* 14% of the 581 Hotels rated by AAA in Mexico are 4 Diamond (85 Hotels) - more than any country in North America including the Caribbean.

* 14 are in the state of Quintana Roo, 13 in the state of Jalisco and 10 in Mexico City.

* 1.5% of the 581 Hotels rated by AAA in Mexico are 5 Diamond (10 Hotels)- a higher percentage than any country in North America including the Caribbean.

* Quintana Roo has six 5 Diamond Rated hotels - more than most states in the US & Canada and as many as New York City (6)

* Only two Hotels in North America that are rated 5 Diamond also have two 5 Diamond restaurants on their premises. (One in Quintana Roo and one in Las Vegas).

* 5% of the 642 Restaurants rated by AAA in Mexico are 4 Diamond (35).

* 120 Hotels and Restaurants in Mexico are rated 4 Diamond by AAA.

* States with the most Five Diamond hotels: California (16), Florida (9), Quintana Roo, Mexico (6)Arizona (6), New York (6), Georgia (5) and Nevada (5).

* 30 Attractions in Mexico are rated ”GEM” these are attractions that are exceptional and should not be missed when traveling to an area.

To be considered for AAA approval and rating, lodgings and restaurants undergo a thorough inspections by AAA’s 65 full-time professional evaluators. AAA first started listing accommodation information in its travel publications in the early 1900s. In 1937, the first field inspectors were hired, and the current Diamond Rating System was introduced in 1977.

As North America’s largest motoring and leisure travel organization, AAA provides its 50 million members with travel, insurance, financial and automotive-related services. Since its founding in 1902, the not for profit, fully tax paying AAA has been a leader and advocate for the safety and security of all travelers.

After evaluating and awarding eligible properties the premier designation of quality â€" AAA Approved â€" AAA assigns a rating of one to five AAA Diamonds. While the AAA Approved designation assures members a clean, comfortable hotel or restaurant experience, the number of AAA Diamonds facilitates selection by indicating the extensiveness of services and amenities, from basic to world-class.

Together, these complementary facets of the AAA Diamond Rating Process provide members with the key to perfect hotel and restaurant choices â€" experiences that meet their expectations. Using the AAA Diamond ratings, members can select from nearly 60,000 quality hotels and restaurants across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, quickly and easily, every time.

Is this homework? Sounds like it as you are asking for a summary. What do you think it means? What kind of comments is it making about the hotels and attractions in Mexico...positive or negative? Does it make Mexico sound like a good place to vacation or not? Does it sound like AAA recommends vacationing in Mexico? Are the hotels as nice there as in the U.S? Are there interesting attractions in Mexico? Answer those questions and you will have yor summary.

Excellent answer Charlie----Priceless---couldnt believe or understand what he was reading.

Sounds like you get a good deal on a first rate hotel in Mexico.

mexico is ranked as the 8th destination in the world

tHE SERVICES offered by mexican tourism industry meet the required level to achieve this position.

Not to be picky, but if the word fiance refers to a man, it only has one "e", otherwise, it refers to the female gender. Okay, to round off the stocking, since he likes golf, put in a small gift certificate to his favourite sporting goods store. Or a golf glove. Or one of those cards (you could even print one off) where you write the verse, and say, "This card entitles the bearer to one full-body massage given by me." That's probably the best one. Disney World on a college kid budget?

For my 21st b-day my mom is taking me, my sis, and my bf-ey to Daytona Beach. This is rare and exciting for me since I never do ANYTHING, let alone for my birthday. The problem is I have to pay for my own travel and if we want to go to disney world (which I do so so so bad!!!) that too, and travelling to and from disney from daytona. My boyfriend is a AAA member if that helps (although since we aren't married I don't know if that does anything good for me... :-( ) I'm willing to do just about anything, aka timeshare seminars for free tickets, taking a chinatown bus (we are from nyc where you can catch a chinatown bus to boston for 12 dollars). BAsically ANYTHING we can do to save money, because I really wanna make the most of my fl vacation, because I won't get to go down again for a loooooooooong time. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

1st off, Disney is not for little kids, sure, they have stuff for the little ones but I would recommend Disney to a 100 year old man! Everyone should visit Disney at least once in their life. It is way more then just a theme park.

But, I know if u stay in Orlando and want to stay at one of the resorts, try the value resorts. You still have transportation to and from the parks.

Also, something else to do, since ur going to be 21, you can "drink around the world" at Epcot. Its so cool. Just go to the World showcase there and every country has their own "drink" Its something fun to do and to say u've done it.

I dont think ur from FL but if u are u can get a Florida Resident discount. Other then that, just look online to see if their are any coupons but I wouldnt advise buyinjg "discount" tickets offline unless its off a Disney sight. A lot of those places end up ripping u off.

But HAVE FUN, I know you will if ur going to Disney!

You can visit http://www.mytoursguide.com and find a good number of articles and very useful tips to learn timeshare options worldwide. One can even get a free timeshare as a promotional offers from travel companies. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20070402152235AAeXfTg&kid=BYJdWWTeDVKhNwHOvQHH&s=comm&date=2007-07-04+19%3A10%3A31&.crumb=

Well, Disney is only about 1 1/2 hrs from Daytona. So you could just drive out for the day. Depending on when you're going, some of the parks are open late. If you only have 1 day, I recommend Magic Kingdom, or MGM. They have the most rides. Also, if you want to spend some time at night, there's Pleasure Island which has a bunch of different clubs. AAA doesn't give discountsfor just 1 day tickets and the tickets are about $67 for 1 park/day and I think $85 to get a 1 day park hopper. I'm not sure if any buses go from Orlando to Daytona, but I'm sure you can look it up online. Since you'll be 21 you can rent a car for the day, some places charge approx. $25 extra if you're under 25, but they'll still rent you a car. Save some extra money by eating Ramen noodles and spend the night in Orlando. Check around, they have cheap hotels and most have shuttles going to and from Disney! Have fun!

I recommend not doing Disney but instead Universal Studios. Disney World is mostly for little kids. Universal and Islands of Adventure have many intense rollercoasters and movie themed rides that are much more fun than the teapot and marrygoround rides at Disney.

Best Western Eastgate is nice. About 1/2 hour drive east of Disney. Daytona is, I think, about 6 hours away, so you really want to stay in a hotel in Orlando.

Go to EPCOT, then Animal Kingdon, then MGM Studios, finally Magic Kingdom. One day for each park, depending upon how much time you have.

Have your boyfriend get the tickets from AAA. Lowest price.

time share - forget it. They hold you like a prisoner for 2-4 hours. And throw in the hard sale. Not worth the discount.

Disney has trams that take you to all their parks. But no trams outside to take you to the hotel. Eat at McDonalds for breakfast, and the hotel for dinner. Lunch will cost $20 per person at the theme parks.

You can get all the Disney stuff in the stores OUTSIDE of Disney, cheaper prices than Disney.

Hope this helps.

Your mom is great for taking you to WDW!!

Clueless on the basics, help on rpm, torque in order to pull out a succesful engn school project?

i am building a mini prototype that will travel in land and water with great speed. how much rpm do i need and torque. I have been looking on diff kinds of motor and I am clueless. one motor seems to have a high rpm but diff output with load and no load. i don't understand this. In terms of torque what is the hghest possible torque and power need for my propeller

Even though, I love science I have

never been into building models or

anything that has something to do with

mechanical robotics.

My task is to build a miniature model

that will fit in a 4 and 1/2 inches in

diameter water pipe that will have

great speed. The conditions are as

follows: It must travel from one end

to another at a very high speed

powered by up to 8 AAA batteries,

having the pipes empty, filled, half-

filled with water. I have thought of

theories that will make my model

efficient however I am lacking in

resources in which base model to

choose from. One suggested to look

into tamiya miniature

My advise would be to visit a hobbies store. They have everything you need. Use high performance rechargeable batteries, otherwise you´ll run out of batteries all the time! In any case, it is not a lot of juice. Find out how many amp-hours they can deliver and maximize the discharge with the size of the motor.

RPM will decrease with an increasing torque The more torque the better, of course, but it will be limited by the size of the motor, the power source, and the friction coefficient of the wheels/size of the prop.

Props cannot turn faster than 280 rpm, or so. After that, they start to cavitate.

Can't get through to Expedia. Maybe popup blocker. HELP?

I've turned off my popup blocker and still I can't access things like Expedia, Travelocity, AAA, Shermans Travel. Every time I try to access these I hear a dumb sound and the page does not open. I'm left with the original page, unchanged. Anyone know how to disable this or get around it?

Try holding ctrl when you click the link (you can try holding shift too). If this works, you still have a pop-up blocker running. There is one built into Windows XP if you're running SP2, and then if you have any toolbars installed you probably have another. Another thing you could try is right clicking the link you want to get to and select "Open in New Window"

Just glad I could help :) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=1006051730632&kid=NbUvWzu4VjOHmw_e3yTj&s=comm&date=2006-05-19+10%3A55%3A29&.crumb=

That is a sign of the Gods. They really like you. You should have been great guy in other lives. The divinities are helping you: going to EXPEDIA or the other travel agencies might ruin your trips. read this: http://www.victimsofexpedia.com

or simply search for "EXPEDIA complaints" in Google

If you're using IE, there is a built in blocker you need to disable there also.

Use firefox.

There might be multiple problems. (1) your popup blocker did not disable itself. You might consider allowing those sites to display popups or remove the popup blocker. (2) you might have spyware. try downloading Windows Defender from microsoft.com; it's free. and scan your computer. (3) download firefox (getfirefox.com) and see if those sites load. if yes, there might be a problem with internet explorer (if you use it).

Let me know if this helps.

Help on Freedom of the Seas?

I know what I have to pay when I get to Freedom of the Seas' destinations but what do I pay ON the ship? The Flow-rider? Mini Golf? Pools? How about the dining? If I wanna eat some sort of food from Johnny Rockets in the middle of the day and It's not lunchtime, do I pay for the drink or food? How about the Ice Skating? Gym?

About the price......What do I pay the moment I book it? When do I start paying the total price? Can I finance it?

And......I have a friend who is an AAA Travel Agent, should I book my cruise with her or Vacations To Go or the Royal Caribbean or American Airlines?

Thank You sooooooo much!!!!!

I believe it is a $3.95 fee for Johnny Rockets, plus, the cost of beverages. Room service between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 5:00 a.m. is also I believe $3.95 (recent change). At all other times room service is complimentary. There is also a fee for Ben and Jerry's and specialty coffee (subject to availability)

The specialty restaurants, Chops and Portofino, have a fee of $20-$25. But, are not available on all ships.

All other food aboard ship is complimentary.

There is currently no charge for Flow Rider, mini golf, the Rock Wall, ice skating, the fitness center.

There is a fee for the golf simulator, as well as spa treatments.

This is a pretty basic list, and things may change.

The following beverages are complimentary.

Water, Juice, Milk, Coffee and Tea at breakfast.

Water, Milk, Lemonade, Tea, Coffee at lunch

Water, Coffee, Tea and Milk at dinner.

You will be required to pay a deposit when you book. This deposit is $250 for a seven night cruise. It is less for shorter cruises and more for longer cruises or special sailings (Christmas, New Years, etc...)

The balance is due 70 days prior to sailing. Financing is NOT available.

Booking it through your friend is as good as anything. There is really no reason not to book with her.

Wow a lot of questions there. I agree with the other commenter that RC's website is probably the best spot for you but I'll try to answer some basic stuff for you.

All of those activities you listed are free except Johnny Rockets. I believe there is a charge of $3.95 per person. Drinks and shakes are extra. If you are a RC Crown and Anchor Gold Member (available after 1 completed cruise) you are given a voucher for 1 free admission. Virtually all food on the ship is free at any given time. The exceptions to the rule are the specialty restaurants (Portofino & Chops) and Johnny Rockets. Water, tea (iced and hot), lemonade, juices (during breakfast), and coffee are free drinks. The Cafe Promenade coffee shop charges for cappuccinos, lattes, etc.

Payment depends on the agent you book through. I believe my agent gave me the option of a down payment at time of booking and the remainder was due by a certain time before the cruise (I believe 30 or 60 days) or to pay all at once. I do not think you'll see financing being offered. You are better off putting it on a credit card if you want to finance it and pay it in installments that way.

All the travel agents have access to the same rooms and deals. I would go with the lowest price honestly. If the prices are the same across the board, I would suggest your friend that is a travel agent. Its better to have someone you can trust that knows the industry to turn to if you need to.

I would suggest getting travel insurance when you book because if something comes up (death in the family, missed flight, illness, etc.) and you can't take the cruise, you lose all your money without it. You can take the insurance offered by the booking agent but I would suggest using STA travel. They are a student travel site but you can get equal value insurance with them at about 50% less than what most booking agents sell it for. For example, my booking agent wanted $110/person for insurance and I got it through STA for $94 for my wife and myself.

Enjoy!

Please take time to go out to Royal Caribbean's web site www.royalcaribbean.com for answers to all your questions and more. I remember having many of the same kinds of questions and they are very clear as to which restaurants potentially would charge a fee (not many do). Also, things to do on the ship usually are included in your fare. As far as booking, I'd go with a travel agent (we used Vacations to Go.... Audra) and were very pleased! Do take time to go out on the RC website before you book and make a list of questions to ask their customer service rep if you don't find the answers you're looking for. Enjoy your trip!

Wierd kitchy road trip stops California and Oregon?

I am planning a road trip from Sacramento to Portland. What are some cool, creepy, utterly kitchy sites, stops worth taking? Please do not copy and paste from the AAA, travel channel or some general public travel guide! I don't care about 4 star hotels and tourist trapping infomercials.

I am looking for the lesser known, oddball stops. Some potential oddstop examples: the veterinarian office building shaped like a horse, the shoe repair shaped like a huge boot, the food stand shaped like a huge hot dog (such places like these exist in southern Cal), the largest ball of twine, the haunted hat factory, the tilted taco stand vortex, the front yard paperclip-coat hanger sculpture scene. So far I have only found the Oregon Vortex and a portland haunted tour. The quickest, best list matching my specs will win a best answer vote from me. Thanks!

Do you know the way to Niagara Falls?

I'm planning a trip to Niagara Falls from NYC. We have rented a car so we can see some of the rest of NY on the way, and would like to go through Binghamton and come back to JFK via some other route. The AAA Travel Dept reminded me that many thoroughfares in the east have lovely trees lining the highways, which are beautiful, but totally hide the surrounding landscape.

Could anyone tell me if highways 17, 86, 90 or 330 have trees lining the highway, or if you can see interesting scenery? This is the ONLY reason we are travelling by car, so I need to be sure we will see the scenery.

Any other suggested routes would also be welcome. We will leave JFK around 1pm on Monday, and want to be in the Niagara Falls area (tentative plan is Fort Erie) by Tuesday evening. Returning, we will leave NF area on Thursday mid-morning, and want to be within an hour of JFK by Friday evening.

Thanks!

I think 17 is more scenic than 90. 90 goes city to city. 17 is also a shorter trip than going through Albany. If I remember right, a section of route 17 was voted the most scenic highway east of the Mississippi.

While in many sections, trees do line the highways, there are open areas, and hills provide views.

Where is a fun, cheap, and not too far from where i live, weekend getaway?

I live in Southern California about 45 minutes from Los Angeles. I want to get away with my boyfriend for a weekend before the summer is over. I dont want to travel more than 4 hours, we dont want to go to vegas or laughlin because we are trying to make it cheap as possible but yet we want to have fun and have together time. Please be as detailed as possible i need prices and directions (okay maybe not directions but the names of the places) even hotel information, I do have AAA so i know they offer discounts but any ideas would be great!

- Santa Barbara - you can tour the wine vineyards and there are also a lot of outdoor activities

- San Diego - good city to check out if you've never been

Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, Cambria..all along the coast and about 4 hours away. Lots of people honeymoon in these areas. Or try Catalina island...just an hour boat ride from Long Beach.

Dilemma! Job question.?

My wife been working at AAA travel dept. for over a year, she loves her job but she says there isn't no room for her to grow but to be a travel agent and that may take a long time . Recently, we went out for 2nd jobs. I got one and she had a interview for one. Its at a clothing store that is very popular called torrid and she interviewed for the asst. manager position. they liked her and hire her. However, their hours are full time hours which take us from the concept from just have something on the side and she bound to give up her primary job for the new job she just took. She said being a manager won't be offered again and after her 90 days she gets the same benefits as she does from AAA. Overall, she says this is where she wants to be and not just working for a paycheck with no path. She's taking 1.50 paycut to work for Torrid. and this is the mall so if you ever worked in the mall you know how it goes. if she's management and business slows would she suffer Is this worth it?

She's doing what she thinks will make her happy ... If you get in her way , she'll never forget it. Support her decision , if you want to stay married.

"Retail is tough" is a good description of what the future may unfold. I'd stick with the AAA position until a more secure long-term career opportunity comes your way.

Good luck!

If your budget can survive with the pay cut and it is something that would make her happy, then she should go for it.

Retail is tough. I think you are right to consider that retail people get laid off. If a department does bad, they tend to change managers as well.

On the other hand, the rewards are not bad for someone that does well in retail. But that means producing on the bottom line and sometime that is out of her control.

If she is happier, and she sees little advancement in the old job, it is likely a good move. But I agree not as stable long term. She would need to be somebody that can "sell" themselves to find another job if laid off. But most retail people are good at selling. ;)

Yahoo gives me two diff. ways from Chey. Wy. to Yellow. N.P. and AAA has a different way. Which is best?

Least travel time is priority. Driving is at night.

1.I-80 west to I-15 north to rt. 20 in Idaho Falls to the park.

2.I-25 north to Casper, rt. 20 west through Greybull to the park.

3.I-80 west to rt. 287/26 through Grand Teton N.F. to the park.

going thru casper is your best bet... you're in the high plains going this way.. no mountain roads, no crazy winds or weather.... just a flat incline most of way...

I always use Map Quest, they are the best, and I am an OTR truck driver. Good Luck.

Here's mapquest's version, going in the east entrance.

Does anyone have any ideas for traveling cheap to Maui?

I will be going to Maui in July for a friends wedding. I am flying out of connecticut. I have been on expedia, hotwire,kayak,orbitz,aaa,cheaptickets,et... and the cheapest flight that I have found so far is $748, that is really good considering many are well over $800. Right now I am more concerned about the flight, because my sister works for a major hotel/resort chain and so I know she will be able to get me a good deal on lodging. Any other suggestions for flight information. I will be going for 7 days. Any information that you may have will be greatly appreciated. I want to do this trip as inexpensive as I can.

Use a canoe.

Just kidding.

Sometimes you can find cheaper rates going directly through the airlines. And since CT-HI is a pretty long distance, I would recommend signing up for the frequent flyer program of the airline you end up using, as that trip alone might get you a free or reduced ticket in the future.

So check to see what airlines fly to Hawaii, and call them directly. You'll at least save the $10-$20 booking fee that those other sites charge.

hitchhike, then rent a canoe

If there are more than one airport in your area, you may find that the cost varies. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area, and shop for tix from San Francisco airport, Oakland airport, and San Jose airport. Some destinations will cost me half as much from one airport than another, and I'm willing to drive the 30 extra miles to save that kind of money.

I always find my airfare/Hotel/car at www.cheaptickets.com I found this airfare for $767 taxes included:

The cheapest way is to buy your airfare, and stay with friends. I normally just buy the package deal air/hotel/car its a lot cheaper, and conveinent. Good Luck and Enjoy!

Most airfare services on the internet are not wholesale but retail prices. This includes orbitz, expedia, hotwire, cheaptickets, etc..

If you end up booking with them, there are no refunds whatsoever, if you decide to cancel.

Airlines do not want you to know the "cheapest" tickets. They also do not print the prices on your airline tickets.

Your best bet would be to contact a travel agent. Ask for "airfare consolidation" prices to Maui. If they don't do airfare consolidation, then look for another travel agent. There are some out there, you just have to shop for one. The travel agent's job is to make YOU happy, which is finding the cheapest best deal there is. You are their business, if they can't make you happy, their paycheck will suffer! So travel agents would rather ask for a small commission than no commission at all!

Once the travel agent quotes you on the lowest consolidation price, ask

"Do you think you can find something lower than that?" Haggle your way through.

My cousin went to a trip to Hawaii with her family in the summer last year, and she got $438 per person!!! If she had shopped for tickets on Expedia or Orbitz or what have you, it would have been around $800-$900+

This method saved her $400 in airfare per person.

By the way, for airfare consolidator prices, if you decide to cancel your airfare tickets with them, there is a small penalty, but at least you get most of your money back!

I hope this helps!

Looks like you are doing the right thing so far. Some airlines don't schedule that far in advance. Southwest Airlines, for example, only has flight schedules for May.

I find my best deals on cheaptickets. Some of the airlines will BEAT ticket prices that you find at the ticket broker sites.

Also, use fatwallet.com to get cash back. Discover card also has 5% cashback right now for booking travel.

Good luck!

Depending upon your point of departure, ATA and Southwest have some dirt cheap flights to Maui. Northwest Airlines also has some cheap flights. You are flying at a VERY peak and high demand period, esp. since MANY folks are getting married in Hawai'i on 7/7/07 (read this article entitled "As lucky Hawai'i wedding dates go, 7/7/07 beats them all" http://pacific.bizjournals.com/pacific/stories/2007/01/22/story3.html). I check flights regularly on travelocity and expedia, but I've found that by going directly to the Northwest Airlines website, you can find some super deals.

Unless there is another national calamity or natural catastrophe (tsunami, undersea earthquakes, locust, etc.), I don't anticipate any bargain airfares around the 4th of July...but you never know! Last year i found a super cheap round trip ticket from Maui to Seattle on Northwest Airlines for the same dates you seek. Good luck!

My husband and I are flying to Maui in 2 weeks and our flights were only $200 each one way. We booked through West Jet. I have no idea if West Jet flies out of Conneticut but it's worth looking into. Our flights are the cheapest part of our trip!

We found ours at travelwithfaith.com I think it was 350.00 good luck. Oh the prices on that site change everyday so check back if its too expensive.

I found a great flight for my husband around Christmas from the midwest to Honolulu. I used Travelation.com and I got it for under $400!! Unheard of ! Good Luck.

Which MP3's Run On AA or AAA Batteries?

I travel a lot and don't always have access to a computer or outlet for charging. Does anyone know of a MP3 that runs off regular batteries????????????

The older models of Creative Muvo mp3 players run off of AAA batteries. You can probably find them on eBay or other secondhand goods dealers. The two current models have an internal rechargeable battery and wouldn't be what you're looking for.

There are also devices that will let you charge an iPod off of an AA battery. They usually cost about $25.

Hotel business rates, just for business travellers, or can I use it for non-business stays?

Yeah, I'm frugal. I've noticed, when looking through hotel websites, that the 'corporate rate' is many times cheaper than AAA or any other discount. If I'm travelling by myself (not for business), or with my family on vacation, can I take advantage of these rates too? What would qualify someone to use these rates, and do I need to show any corporate ID (I do work for a Fortune 500 company, so I have that, but never travel on business)? I'll save whatever I can wherever I can. Thanks.

It would be worth asking the hotels. Mention the company that you work for.

My understanding of this term is that these are the rates negotatied with various big companies because they invariably have mutliple visitors and therefore give the hotel regular business.

I normally book my trips through a Corporate travel agent, so don't need to be concerned, but I'm sure that if I called direct, booked a stay and advised that I work for company x, I should expect to get the corporate rate.

Definitely worth trying.

I have a very sore rotator cuff and it isnt getting any better... what should i do?

Ok so im a 15 year old boy that plays AAA competetive traveling baseball. It first started off just an annoying naging tightness in my rotator cuff-shoulder but just keeps getting more sore and harder to throw. What should i do to help this heal?

First off, stop masterbating!

I am a granny but currently suffering from the same thing which was caused by a fall 6 mos. ago and steroid shots only give temporary relief, so I fear I have to have surgery. This is second time. It took many months to heal last time. You better have an x-ray and see if it is torn.

Rotator cuffs will not heal themselves like some other musculature problems will. There are specific exercises you can do to strengthen it and help it heal. One that worked best for me was to lean vertically against a wall with good arm and let bad arm hang. Slowly swing arm/hand in a small circle. It don't seem like you're doing much while you're doing it, but it really does help. Try to ease up on using it for a while as well. Best of luck !!

X-ray will not show a torn rotator cuff. You need an mri. See an ortho doc or good chiropractor that knows shoulders.

Discounts for Travel on Amtrak?

My husband, 2 children, and I are wanting to take Amtrak in May when we move, but the tickets are over 1000.00. Does anyone know of any other promotional codes or discounts to use other then AAA and student discounts? My family and I would greatly appreciate it.

How much would it cost to drive to Detroit, MI from Cleveland, OH?

Hi!

I've been looking for information on fuel costs and toll costs to drive from Cleveland to Detroit, and I can't find anything!

I found a fuel cost estimator from AAA and it said it would be $36.44 round trip but that sounds really underestimated, I was thinking that would be the cost each way.

So this is for anyone who's actually done the travelling first hand:

How much?

And how long?

Thanks! :)

Detroit to Cleveland is roughly 170 miles and takes about 3hours to drive.

Not knowing what mileage your car gets makes it a bit hard to estimate costs. But your Triple A estimate, sounds about right to me.

If the price of gas is a concern, check MapQuest.com, it has a feature that finds the cheapest in the area.

http://gasprices.mapquest.com/

You can also use it for directions and a map if need be.

I would try the Trip Cost Calculator from the Scott Common Sense Community. Put in your car's avg mpg and an average of what gas is in your area and it should give you a solid estimate.

http://www.scottcommonsense.com/Tools/Gas/Calculator.aspx

Do you need tire chains to go to Big Bear?

I know this may sound like a stupid question for those who drove up there before, but this would be our first trip up there and last thing I want to do is be stranded on a hill waiting for AAA.

Anyhow, are tire chains required for traveling from Los Angeles to Big Bear? If so, anyone got any idea where we can get them fairly inexpensive for 15" tires?

With that, do you even recommend driving a 2001 Civic up those hills?

The only time it is "required" is when the weather conditions are such that, either snow is sticking to the road surface, or, if the weather is merely threatening to snow.

The California Department of Transportation may set up check points during times that they determine that chains must be carried. They WILL turn you back at these checkpoints if you don't have them in the car. If it is already snowing hard enough, they will require you to install the chains or they will not permit you to procede.

Especially during the Fall and Winter seasons, where the weather can rapidly change, it is a good idea to carry chains, and, learn how to install them yourself. Sometimes the weather changes so fast, that you can be stranded on a snowy, icy road before the chain installers have been called in.

I recall one time that I was in Reno in JUNE when there was a snowfall over Donner Pass. At the time, it was just a light dusting and chains were not called for, but, ever since that time, I have always had chains in whatever car we owned. We go up to Reno or Lake Tahoe about a half dozen time a year. Sometimes we've had to chain up when all the traffic ground to a halt because of the weather.

If your Civic is in decent condition, you should have not problems. The roads to most of the major ski resorts are pretty well maintained. But, during a snowstorm, I wouldn't recommend the trip unless the car was well maintained, and, without ANY noticible problems. Little problems tend to become MAJOR problems during inclement weather.

California does have chain laws & if the overhead highway sign is broadcasting that all vehicles must chain up, & you are caught without chains installed, you could face a fine.

I used to drive semi's and going across I-80 through Donner's Pass, I would see that sign a lot during the winter.

I'm not sure what the fine would be for a passenger car, but California's fine for semi's not chained up is very, very expensive.

It is also wise to have them & not need them, than to need them & not have them.

Somewhere like that you should definitely carry chains. A lot of side roads and driveways never get plowed, and it often snows unexpectedly.

Buy them and if you don't use them, return them to the store. Check first I know many stores let you do that.

Where to buy them...any auto parts store.

You need to check out traffic conditions cuz sometimes you do need chains. Your Honda will make it. See if 511 from your cell gives you driving conditions.

yes you do.

How can I decorate a classroom for "Passport to Adventure?"

We're doing a 12 week series in children's church called Passport to Adventure. The kids will have passports and the theme is travel. Decoration ideas? It's a small room and not a big budget.

I was thinking of using maps on the walls or something. I can probably get free ones from AAA. I'm afraid it'll just look like I taped trash to the wall though.

Any cool thrifty ideas for decorating a room in a travel/adventure theme?

Thanks

If you can afford construction paper, you can make a road curving around on the walls. At different points on the road, put up pictures or cutouts of adventurous places, like jungles, mountains, pyramids, the desert, the North Pole, maybe some exotic city scenes or famous buildings like the Taj Mahal.

You can either cut out jungle trees, pyramids and so on from the construction paper, use a color printer to print photos from the Internet or find them in magazines. Or have the kids draw them.

I like the maps idea, so work that in somehow, too.

Are there any great websites or travel companies that help people customize European travel?

We would like to spend around 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 weeks hitting some of the highlights of Europe, but have varied tastes. I would like to see Ireland, the UK, and France, while he would like to hit Germany and Austria. Well, truthfully I think we'd like to see every single country, but that's not logical, so these are our top picks. However, AAA's options don't appeal to me, and I want to avoid spending a fortune on booking everything separately. I know railway is a good option, but is there a sight that can really help us maximize our time and travel pathway?

The problem is that your question is too general. What exactly are you asking? You wont find a website to give you an itinery for your 5 specific countries. But there are plenty of websites which give information so you can read more about the countries you are interested in. Here is one:

http://www.travelswise.com/

By the way, railway is a good option for travel in Europe, but there is perhaps another option. European discount airlines often beat railway for price and will save you time, which is important since you want to see so much in such a limited time. The trick with discount airlines is to book early, as cheaper seats book up first:

http://www.travelswise.com/discountairlines.htm

But there can be delays. Never book two discount airlines flights on the same day.

By the way, here is my recommended itinery (which I think is doable). Fly into London, take the Eurostar (tunnel train) to Paris. Fly from Paris to Vienna. Train to Salzburg. Train to Munich, train to Berlin. Fly Berlin to the UK for your flight back home.

I really rise my eyebrows at you. Attempting to see 5 countries in 3 weeks? Yay, what a whirlwind tour! In the end everything will be such a blur that you'll place the Eiffel Tower in London and the Brandenburg Gate in Paris. Honestly, forget about it. In three weeks you'll at maximum be able to cover 2 countries, but not 5.

I suggest you write the names of the countries you want to see on a piece of paper. Then pin it on the wall and throw a dart arrow. Go and visit the country the dart hits and maybe one neighboring country.

Or compromise between you and the hubby and do a combined France-Germany trip. You need to get a good guidebook for planning. I can recommend the Lonely Planet Guide book series for independent travel through Europe. Another guidebook that is popular is Rick Steves' "Europe through the Backdoor".

Rick Steve's got a site that essentially promotes his books and tours, but has some good travel tips too.

http://www.ricksteves.com

As for spending a fortune on booking everything seperately, it can actually be cheaper to do so if you know the prices for things and are willing to compromise a bit on comfort. You could for example rent a holiday appartment where you can cook your own food instead of staying at an expensive hotel and eat out. If you rent a car to tour the countryside it would be possible to stay in cheap hotels or private pensions for about 50 USD per night for the 2 of you. This is not something a travel agency can book for you, you need to arrange it yourself.

Some hockey tips that will help me out for aaa?

I turned 13 and i am a 95 born december 30. I am the smallest one on the ice 5 ft without skates. I play aa hockey in other words travel!! I am a center and right winger. I have a 47 mph wrist shoot and about 70 mph slap shot! I havent hit puberty yet!! I am the fastest on the team and on a good aa team. I ride the bike for 20 minutes each day. Also i workout with my upper body for a good hour and a half in my basement as i also skate on the ice. And the other day i work out wit my legs for an hour and a half. I also shoot pucks every day. I want some tips on being able to make aaa and i do know i am not tall or big enough. But i will soon sprought. Are there any tips on practicing or working out or anything i can do till i grow.

Offensive skill is great, but you have to play with heart and focus on the defensive aspect of the game. You have to finish your checks and backcheck. Don't force plays when you are attacking on offense i.e. don't be afraid to dump and chase.

As for as working out, I have a program, but you shouldn't do it until you get a little older (around 16). It is called static contraction weight training. It will make you as strong as a bull. Right now, just do isometrics (without weights) and plyometics (which is something you should always do as an athlete).

You should A-ask your coatch what you can work on. B-try to eat healthy foods and keep in good shape. C-keep working out like you are, but don't stress your body too much. D-get enough sleep.E-be happy and have fun so that your body stays positve and isn't stressed!F-still stay good in school.

Does Disney (Magic Kingdom) offer any kind of discount at the gate...?

for AAA, Travel Agents, etc...?? Anything at all?

No. In general, Disney claims that there is no such thing as "discount" tickets. Not exactly true.

The cheapest tickets are likely to be advance purchase ones made through Disney, believe it or not. However, those that have the most perks (and therefore the best deal with your money) will come from AAA or other authorized travel agent. They usually throw in free meals, unlimited fast passes, or other goodies.

No , discount tickets must be purchased in advance,,

AAA Membership! Premium or Plus?

Hi,

I want to become a AAA member (for Roadside assistance).

1.Which membership type is good, Premier or Plus?

I won't travel much, but atleast one long trip for a month.. and general weekly intercity travel..

2. What they mean by "Free tows (four) of up to 100 driving miles per disablement" ? 400 miles per year or 25 miles per year?

3. If I signup as a memeber today, do they start covering me from tomorrow?

Please let me know the answers and your experiences.

Thanks in advance

Call AAA, they have very nice people that know all the answers better than anyone on this site unless they work for AAA, like me :-) For your situation I would advise a Plus membership. You get 4 road service calls per year. Road service is lockout, change flat tire, enough gas to get to a station, jump start, or a tow. Each tow could be up to 100 miles. Plus has other goodies that you should ask those nice people I mentioned. I hope you never need me, but if you do, you'll be glad you're a member.

I have had the Plus for years since I live in a ruaral area and a tow would never be a short distance. When I lived in Florida, they towed my car from Tampa to Ocala. Great service and people. If you join and they give you a number (card number) you would be covered right away.

Decorating for children's church - Travel/adventure

We're doing a 12 week series in children's church called Passport to Adventure. The kids will have passports and the theme is travel. Decoration ideas? It's a small room and not a big budget.

I was thinking of using maps on the walls or something. I can probably get free ones from AAA. I'm afraid it'll just look like I taped trash to the wall though.

Any cool thrifty ideas for decorating a room in a travel/adventure theme?

Thanks

first..ask everyone who works at the church for some of they're suitcases to use as props, maps on the wall will be wonderful, just set the tape on the back of the maps, and it won't be so messy, or sticky tack...etc. have the door they enter set up as an airport desk,

if you need some other ideas, my church would be great to contact through email, we have one of the greatest children's centers in the country, the baby area is designed like the ocean, the walls are painted blue with blue mirrors on top of the ceiling..it literally looks like you are walking through the ocean, and 3d sealife, and lights that make it look like water moving, etc...the elementary area is designed like a city, with theatres and cafes, ....its amazing....its northpoint.org

maps are great! but use things people have around-ask! magnifying glasses for their adventure, make a pathway(on floor or wall), stamp their passports every night/day they come, make a jungle out of construction paper if you want make it "look" like a jungle, have luggage/overnight bags sitting out to show that you are going on an adventure, use the acronym B.I.B.L.E.- basic instructions before leaving earth!, hang blow up globes, have the kids make globes themselves, use things like a compass, checklist, water bottles, and snacks.I'm sure there is more. But I'm going blank now.I taught S.S for 20 yrs. You name I have probably tried it! Feel free to e-mail me for more help.Good Luck! God Bless!- try google also.

Go for a framed look for the maps? You don't have to actually frame them--just a thick, square brown paper cutout that you stick-tack over the poster at the corners would do it.

If you really want to get fancy, stencil leaf cutouts along the sides of the paper and cut those out for a sort of very fake tropical/bamboo frame look. ;)

Magazine pictures of tropical places might work too. Bonus if someone has an old outdoor calendar.

Cut out the country/state in question, and paste it to some posterboads. The cut out pictures of what that area is famous for.

I.E. France. Get pictures of the Eiffel Tower, croissants, whatever you can think of and paste it to the posterboard with the map of France.

How about "passport to reality"? You can put pictures of dinosaurs and fossils on the wall along with pictures of how humans evolved.

Take them on a travel adventure to New Jerusalem at Niagara Falls. They can learn about God and see some neat videos of the rapids and Falls.

look for pictures of the Holy Land..

It's a run-on sentence, it's too long.

Colorado travel?

Hi! We have a question regarding travel in Colorado:

We are planning on bringing the family out to CO (Denver etc) during school's Spring Break (April). We have read a lot of CO books, and have talked to AAA. One thing we haven't been able to get an answer to is: WHICH gas stations do you have out there? Will our gas cards work?

Thanks!

we have pretty much all of them.

conoco

phillips 66

shell

diamond shamrock

valero

BP

Sinclare

but no mobil or exxon

Have Mobil in Durango, Colorado and Cortez, Colorado. Exxon, dont have in Colorado..

I aguree the only chains that I've seen other places and not here are chevron, mobil, and exxon, although I think you can find a mobil if you look, and I know we have shell and I think they're conglomerates.

Please look out for motorcycles when you come, riders love this state, espically the mountain roads and we have plenty of bad drivers to worry about as it is, THANKS!

If you are concerned, all gas pumps take Master Card or Visa.

Depends on where you are, but around Denver we have Conoco, BP, Sinclair, Phillips, Bradley (usually the cheapest) and some indepents. No Mobil or Exxon 'round here.

Triple aaa?

I just bought my first AAA membership today, i usually use my families & i saw that they have a travel agency that will book flights and vacations for you but i was wondering, with those vacations can you make payments? Me and like 5 of my friends are going to mexico for my birthday in August and i wanted to see if i could put a deposit down maybe for the trip. I am already going to Walt Disney World in May so right now i just wanted to put a deposit down, is this possible? Anyone that have AAA ever get to do this?

Probably not possible, but don't you think the people that could answer your question BEST, would be AAA??!!

AAA Plus Benefit Brochure?

Hi

I just wondering where I can find the brochure for AAA plus?

They used to send me one, but I lost it.

I go to the website but it just said about towing and locksmith. I remember that they talk about the travel emergency.

Where I can get the full list /brochure?

Thanks so much

Working at AAA?

I was thinking about applying at AAA michigan. I was intersted in the Travel department. "When people ask for trip ticks, maps, and help the customer locate the route they should take when looking on a map.

~What are the requirements

~ Do you have experience with working at AAA

~ How is the pay, benefits, people

~Training?

It's a typical retail job, the pay won't be great. But if you like helping travellers, go for it.

Can my brother get a soccer college scholarship?

he is the star for his middle school and one of the best on his travel team in AAA. he is about 5' and is both footed, he plays center mid and feeds the ball well. He can run a 40 in about 4.7 can he get a college soccer scolarship? hes in 8th grade

it all depends how he performs in varsity and with his club. there are thousands of players like him but a lucky few get recognized. make sure he goes to camps. it;ll give him exposure. also, dont play on a sorry high school team cuz it wont help u. the soccer club has to be good and have frequent matches against high ranked teams or go to high rank tournaments. to get scholarship he needs to have 4 great years at varsity and the club should help

NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO if i cant then he cant homie, hahahahahahahahahahahahaha whats up homie

What is the least expensive way to book a cruise?

I'm a AAA member so would I save going through their travel agency, or booking things separately myself, or booking the airfare at one place and the cruise at another? I will need airfare from Pittsburgh PA to Miami FL, as well as transportation from the airport to the port. At this time I'm looking at leaving the morning of the cruise not the night before that way I won't have to worry about hotel expenses. The cruise line is Royal Caribbean. Any advice for me??

I've booked most of my cruises online either with expedia or travelocity. I did pretty well on the airfare booking through them as well. Twice I used a travel agent. It didn't cost me more, but what I liked about booking myself online was that I could choose the cabin and see it online before booking.

Also, if I could offer my two cents on getting to the port city a day before. There was a problem with my flight on the last cruise and I came literally within minutes of missing the ship. A friend of mine was flying from NYC to Miami and due to delays he missed the ship and had to catch up with them in Puerto Rico. In his case, he booked a flight out of NYC at 10:00am and the ship wasn't scheduled to leave until 5pm. Even with the many flights going from NYC to Miami, he still didn't make it. My point, don't be penny wise and pound foolish. This is your vacation. Treat yourself and spend a few bucks on a hotel in Miami.

AAA is a darn good travel agent and it will not cost you any more by using them or booking it directly with the cruise company. Sometimes you can save some by booking it with a on line travel agent like vacations to go, but AAA is just fine. Also I often book my airline with the cruise company too, especially if it is a one way ticket. The cruise lines buy these up in bulk and therefore save you money. I always use the cruise companies ground transportation as it is very convenient and hassle free. My next cruise, I booked the air myself only because I live far from an international big airport, but close to a smaller one and I wanted to fly from the close one. So my suggestion for you is to book it all through AAA. This way it is the least hassle and they can get you great prices on the whole package.

I always book through a travel agent i use redhotescapes.com and I am also a past guest so I get past guest rates. Never book air through the cruise line its always more. I have my travel agent do that separately. As for flying if its the winter time I would go the day before if you are late because of weather and miss the boat its your expense to catch it at the next island. If you use AAA book the air separately And fly in the day before thats my advice. Vacations to go is about the same as anyone else after all the taxes etc. they advertise a low price and then once the fuel and surcharges are all added up there no different.

i would come in the day before the cruise and stay in the area of the port. My reasoning is that things may happen the flights may be late, other unforseen circumstances, and that could adversely affect your cruise.

AAA is a good travel agency. I would book airfare thru AAA and not the cruise line. I would have AAA book your transfers from airport to cruise terminal and back.

have a great cruise

(cc)

The cheapest way is by becoming a travel agent or by getting a group together and getting a group rate.

For more information visit:

Try to browse as many sites as you could to get the best deals,

cruising should be fun, especially if you could pay less for it.

DId Clinton's Emissary to the Canadians only Ask for AAA road map? Obama's took the bait?

Will Obama's staff ask for Clinton's travel itinerary?

Would that be proof of being setup?

Who knows?

Why are people traveling less for the holidays?

With gas being the cheapest it's been since 2005, why is AAA saying that people will be traveling less this holiday season?

I'm not entirely sure but I think it's because of the economy being so bad.

Have you seen the economy lately? Thought you would notice that we're about to fail!

I want to get Triple A (AAA) emergency roadside service but can't find the prices anywhere, anyone know?

I just want the benefit of being towed if I were to break down out in the middle of nowhere because I travel a lot. Just curious how much a 6 month or something subscription to these guys would be. I check out there site and no prices are listed.

The cost of a AAA Plus membership for yourself is $89 per year and you can use it up to 4 times a year. This allows you up to 100 miles of free towing too. For more info, call 1-800-222-7623 and someone there should be able to help you. I currently have AAA Plus and it comes in real handy for me at critical times. You might want to carry a cell phone with you too whenever you drive if you don't already have one. If you want to go on the website (instead of talking to a AAA rep) and move your cursor to memberships, it will tell you about how to join, costs, and, it will also tell you about AAA Plus too. Good luck and safe driving!

Depending on the package you get, which I suggest getting AAA Plus, it's worth the extra cash. And it runs about $40 for the year = about one towing but you get many just in case.

some cell ph providers have this service attchd to their service. Not likely there will be a ph near when u break down. Cheapest I know of that way. Tow and service cost way more without that. And ur gas card throw it in for about 25 a year. U do use credit, right?

I have AAA and I pay $80.00 a year for a premium policy. There is one cheaper, but I don't know for sure how much. I got mine through a local AAA agent. Look in the yellow pages for an agent and he will be able to help you.

Like I said, I have a premium policy and I can use them if I run out of gas, lock my keys in my car, get a flat, etc. But, I pretty much pay for my policy with the hotel discounts. For example, the last time I used the discount I save about $15.00 on one night. Hotels vary in discount, but all will give one. There are also discounts on alot of other things that I haven't even used. AAA is well worth $80.00 a year if you travel at all.

The membership is totally worth it! I got a 1 year/ 8 time use membership with my future husband for a total of $100 (prob about $50 each.) It practically pays for itself. #1 I had to get towed out of a ditch (would've been $130 without AAA) #2 my battery went dead at the store and I had to get towed to a shop to get it replaced. Then because I was a member, I got a decent discount on the new battery.

Does any-one know the exact places where The music video 'Get Chu' By. AAA was filmed?

I loved the places and was wondering where they were and the other stuff...It would be fun to go see the beach, dock and road one day if I ever travel to that country! :)

You know something? I think it would be better to call up AAA. Seriously, they will be more than happy to help you with that. When I was in college and getting my degree in Travel, I went to them for brochures and stuff to help me with reports and presentations. They are very happy to help you.

Help with making the change from a B Roller Hockey Team to a AAA team.?

Okay, so Im 17 years old and have been playing roller hockey on and off for 12 years. In the past 2 seasons I have really cracked down and started focusing on my game. I know I have the determination and skill to play AAA but with the lack of interest and dedication by my current team we are only able to compete in the B division, where we still don't succeed. No one wants to take this game as seriously as I do. Next year Im moving and will only be able to play 18u travel. I've been looking for places to play in the Phoenix area and it seems that most of the 18u travel teams are AAA. I was just wondering if anyone has any advice to offer to making this extremely big change in my game play. Anything along the lines of:

-Nutrition

-Conditioning (On/off rink)

-Strength training

-Puck handling

-Shot accuracy

Im currently working on getting in the best shape that I can, I am 5'8 175 pounds, mostly muscle. I want to compete on a very competitive level, the only hockey league that my town has to offer does not meet my expectations as a competitive travel league. Any help would be appreciated.

well go running everday.

and skating as much as possible.

lift weights and all that stuff like regular.

and set up some empy bottles in diff. spots and try to shoot them all down. that worked great for me.

and a good competitive place is statewars

heres the link www.statewarshockey.com just go to the tryouts and select your state. thats what im currently doing.

Wow roller hockey eh.

Well i play ice hockey at a very high level Midget AAA which is like u18 AAA. Last year i played on a B team and found myself in the same situation as you. over the summer break to push myself to that next level i made myself a schedule of my daily activities. I would have cartio one day muscle building. I made sure i only ate healthy and good meals(protein and such) and then on the ice i continued to work hard at camps and things like that. Today believe it or not am an assistant captian on the AAA team

Anyone ever taken an all inclusive trip to Jamaica?

I would love some details! The costs, what the weather will be like, and the best way to purchase the trip (travelocity, travel agent, AAA etc) and any other suggestions would be appreciated. I would like to go for about five nights (there will be two adults) and do an all inclusive package. I was thinking about going in October and visiting Montego Bay. Also, will I need a passport? Thanks for any info!

I also am a travel agent, I suggest (if you're going with a significant other) try one of the Couples resorts. There are 4 on the Island and they are only on Jamaica. They include lots of off property excursions and tours that other resorts make you pay for. They are couples only as the name suggests. You will be treated like royalty. Their web address is:

http://www.couples.com/

Here are some photos from Couples San Souci last July 4th.

http://good-times.webshots.com/slideshow/557842078SUHtRk.

If you're not going with someone of the oposite sex or with you're going with a friend, there are lots of resorts to fit any need or lifestyle.

Your best bet is to find a travel agent near your home and let them help you plan your trip. They can give you brochures and information on different places. It's hard to work with a travel agent in another state. There are seller of travel law requirements a travel agent must meet before they can sell travel originating in a state in which the travel agent does not live. You should be careful about choosing a travel agent. Choose one close to home and build a relationship with that agent.

Yes you will need a passport. They're about 115.00. Here's a link for more information on how to get one.

http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_832.html

As far as weather goes, it rains almost every day in Jamaica due to the tropical climate. But they're usually short showers and a very welcome break from the heat. Most resorts will furnish umbrellas for you to use.

Good luck and have fun.

My honeymoon was in Negril and we stayed and the RIO tropical hotel. Beautiful private beaches and all inclusive for $1,600 per person. Back in 2001. Awesome hotel and scenerie. includes airfair, shuttle bus to hotel, alcohol on hotel property and in room, all the food you can eat. definitely worth it. Yes you should definitely get a passport. It's a lot less hectic going through customs. Birth cert. is ok but more of a hassle. now is the perfect time to order a passport. takes 2-3 months to get one. act now.

I did about 4 years ago. Stayed at the Breezes in Ohco Rios, very safe and the food and drinks were great

I went in 2004 and 2005 and stayed at Point Village and RIU Tropical, both in Negril. For 5 days at Point Village in 2004, all inclusive was close to $900, the food wasn't that great, but the included alcohol drinks and entertainment were wonderful. The resorts rooms were a little on the basic side and kind of dreary, but okay. RIU Tropical, in 2005 was approximately $1100 for 5 days, but the rooms were beautiful, the food and drinks were good. The all inclusive plans were beneficial considering we didn't venture far from the resorts (and we drank like fish), other than sight seeing and shopping. Both trips were purchased thru travel agents, but I would check travelocity, expedia or even priceline. Don't know if you'll need a passport now, we've just always had them.

Have fun!! You will enjoy it!!

We've taken four trips and are planning our next in July to return to the Half Moon in Mobay. We book our own trips. You will need a passport. October can be a rainy month in Jamaica, or so I've been told. Prices range at the Half Moon depending upon the type or room, cottage, or even villa you may choose. The food is extraordinary, not at all like some of the buffets you may encounter in all inclusives. Room service is included. Look at www.halfmoon.com for complete details. Might not be right for you, but I had to put in a plug for my vacation spot on earth.

I must recommend going to Negril instead. Best vacay spot by far in Jama, you will not be disapointed. Check out the Caves resort if you want a really unique stay, otherwise any of the resorts on the 7 mile beach can accomodate. By the way, you should think about not going all inclusive if you want to experience more than just the resort. Negril is totally safe to explore on your own. Yes, u need a passport.

What's it like working for AAA?

I'm thinking about pursuing a career as a travel agent with the AAA motor club. Any thoughts on what it's like working there?

I've found that AAA is a great company to work for. They value each and every employee. The travel agency within AAA is very strong. Many travel agencies went under after 9/11 but AAA was able to pull through, primarily because of the other business lines that were able to bring in revenue that year. Even if you decide that the travel industry is not for you, AAA has so much to offer. They prefer to promote from within rather than go to the "outside" to fill a position.

Need advice about going to the travel agent for cruise booking!?

This saturday I'm going to my familys travel agent, AAA to book the cruise I want to go on in Feb. I am a member however I've never booked a vacation with them before, so I need all the advice, suggestions, and tips you can give me. Should I book the whole thing through them or just some? I need airfare from Pittsburgh to Ft. Lauderdale, round trip, and a 1 night pre-cruise hotel stay in Ft. Lauderdale. I checked and I know the cruise rate is cheaper through AAA than on RC's website. But what should I do about the hotel stay and airfare?

If I were you, I'd take all the questions you've posted here and ask them to your travel agent (TA). They are trained to help you find exactly what you need. They can make suggestions, but you don't have to follow their advice. Remember, they either travelled to the places you want to go to (or other agents have) and they also get feedback from people they've booked trips for.

You TA will be able to book all your flights, hotels, and cruise. Ask about transfers from the hotel to the port. Some hotels provide it, some don't and you'll have to take a taxi to get thee port.

If you've checked various things on the internet with your cruise line, hotel or airfare, bring it to your TA and see if they can match or better. You may have found a good deal on the internet, but your TA has acces to info you can't get.

For example I was going to Barcelona, Spain, and found what I thought was a great fare with KLM. My TA found a better fare with Lufthansa. I also thought I had a fantastic hotel at a good rate; my TA found a better one.

Check with the travel agent. The cruise line may have a special airfare that is cheaper than what you can get on your own. They could also have a special hotel rate for people who are staying in Florida as well.

If not, you can book it on your own if you can get it cheaper yourself. However, don't forget to factor in the hassle of doing the work yourself. If the agent's price is even close, I would let them handle everything just for the convenience.

AAA is a very large travel agency with normally good service.

So what if a travel agent makes a commission, they are there to guide you through the process and will help if anything goes wrong.

Cruise Company websites are the best place to book a cruise if you want to PAY THE HIGHEST CRUISE FARE..

Any experienced cruise passenger will tell you this.

Since you need all those bookings I would let the travel agent do it all................Just make sure it is a good agency.

You could also do it yourself on the net but you will need the time..........if that doesn't bother you then check on it yourself.... It should be easy. You could also do some checking yourself prior to going to the agency.

I would recommend checking out BookMe.com... You can compare all the major travel websites in 60 seconds, and only search for the ones you want. Keep checking, and eventually you find a GREAT deal! And they only search reputable/reliable sites, so you won't need to worry about anything.

http://bookme.com/test/index3.html

just go straight to the Princess website and book it yourself...it's cheaper

I have been on many cruises and several were out of Ft Lauderdale. Here's my advice. Booking your cruise and all of the other things with the travel agency will be about the same price and booking it yourself separately. The agent will get paid by commission. Now some agents will charge you about $10 per ticket for airline reservations. But here's what you should do.

Look for low priced airfares going a day early and also for ones going that arrive the morning of your cruise. The Ft Lauderdale airport is about 15 minutes from the cruise port, actually they are on opposite sides of I-95. So if you can get a flight that gets to Ft Lauderdale at 10:00 AM to about noon you will have plenty of time to get to the airport. In addition, on your return trip you'll likely be safe booking a flight that leaves about noon or later. I would not advise booking an earlier return because on occasion there is a holdup in departures. We just had a big delay departing a cruise because about 5 or 6 passengers didn't report to Immigration officials as requested; we were delayed leaving an hour.

Second, there are hotels galore all around the Ft Lauderdale airport and some of them offer a free shuttle to the port because its really not that much further than the airport. You may want to search online for Ft Lauderdale airport hotels and then look for ones with the free shuttle. Here's one: http://www.hamptoninnftlauderdaleairport.com/services.php

So look for hotels and air yourself and then see what the agent finds and the price they give. If you can get a good flight and don't anticipate a flight weather delay then go the morning of your cruise, otherwise the day before.

Where can I get the best deals on a Disney vacation?

Our family is going to go to Disney World in Orlando Florida this year. Of course, I want to get the best deal possible. Whom should I book the trip through to get the best deal? A travel agent? AAA? Or through the Disney web site?

If you're not going to book the Disney dining plan it is definitely more cost efficient to book everything separately. Try www.mousesavers.com for great tips on getting good discounts.

If you are looking to do the dining plan, which you can only buy by purchasing a magic your way plan, triple A is really not a bad option [my husband, mother in law and I are headed down in September and we were quoted a total of $6426 for 9 nights for a one bedroom villa at the beach club, three 8 day hopper passes with water park and more option as well as 3 Disney deluxe dining plan]

Another tip I have seen in order to be able to book the dining option but not have to buy a lenght of stay ticket is to book the magic your way package but purchase just one day tickets, and book the dining for the lenght of your stay. This way you can hang on to your unused one day ticket and as long as you don't use it, it will not expire and it can be used towards the purchase of a future ticket. You then can proceed to purchase your lenght of stay passes from a cheaper source.

You'll save alot by putting the package together yourself.

Priceline.com and bid for your air, hotel, and rental cars. Don't take their first price or get discouraged once your first few bids are rejected. You'll save a ton this way.

Also, visit www.InsiderWDWDeals.com for an ebook on how to save on Disney tix. Everyone days it can't be done, but I bought the book and saved $345 - no timeshare presentations of funny stuff. I bought them direct from Disney using a special phone number. They offer a money back guarantee. I did it and was thrilled.

Have fun saving!

I want to go to Disney. How much did it cost you for a week stay?

where do I find discounts? I'm thinking of looking at AAA Travel.

(Family of 5).

(We can't drive down. Iit would take too long (over 24 hours) and not an option with three kids under the age of 5.)

I'd love to stay in the theme park but i believe it's cheaper to rent a house. BUT i would have to rent a minivan with three car seats and that adds up too!

What did you do?

We're going towards the end of the year and staying at Port Orleans French Quarter under the Mousefest price. I think its a little over $1,000 for 7 nights.

Check the Disney website for discounts, Disney frequently offers discounts on either park tickets and/or hotel rooms. Check with them frequently because they change often.

It all depends on the time of year you are going. Disney is offering buy 4 nights get 3 free until the end of March. If one of your children is under the age of 3 you can stay at a value resort, if they are 3 or older you need to go to Port Orleans riverside where they can accommodate 5 in a room. So for a week in May it will cost you $1344.06 for your room and tickets (2 adults and 2 children 3-9) You can add park hoppers and water parks on along with dining.

Since it looks like you will be flying in you can take Magical Express at no extra charge and Disney transportation to the parks is free so you will not need to rent a minivan.

If you are staying off property, parking at Disney is $12 per day so you would have to add that into your total too.

Try the Seralago hotel in Kissimmee it has 2 room suites which will give you more room. The provide transportation to Disney free of charge. We use maingate taxi to and from the airport which charge by the person. If you go to orlando.com there are other means of transportation as well for larger groups. for 4 of us it costs 125 round trip. For Disney tickets try undicovertourist.com or mapleleaftickets.com sometimes they run promotions that you buy so many days you get some for free. It will depend on the types of tickets you want. Oh yeah the Seralago hotel is right next to old town. They have amusement rides and games that the kids will love. You will have to check but last year on Sunday was family day 10/person wrist ban all day. CHeck out there site on Oldtown.com. For airfare you didn't say where you are coming from but check out spiritair.com. If they are coming from your location you can get really good deals. As well as airtran and southwest are running good sales right now.

We are going in April. We are also a family of 5 (3 kids, 6,9, &12). For 4 nights at a Disney Resort, 5 days of tickets, & the meal deal total was $2700.00. We are driving which will take about 16 hours.

ask aaa to plan it out for you.

I looked around for ticket prices and AAA gives you 1 of the cheapest prices. Go with the muti-day disney pass(I bought a 5 day pass to Disney and opted to skip Universal Studios). Don't forget to purchase them before you head down, you don't want to be waiting in line at the gate.

We stayed about 35 minutes from Disney. It was a bad idea because of the time wasted in the morning when I was trying to get there early(less crowded). I would recommend that you stay within 15 min drive. If you stay at a hotel close enough to Disney, they may have a free shuttle to the park(can save by not renting a vehicle). I woudn't recommend my hotel but I did spend only about $55/night. I think you can get a 3 star hotel for around $75/night. I have heard of someone renting a house and had relatively a good experience but he did mention that he would probably try to stay in the park next time.

We decided to drive down(wife, 4 year old daughter, and 6 year old son). We drove down to NC the first day (11 hrs of driving) and the next day drove the rest of the way(another 11 hrs). Purchasing a portable dvd ahead of time was a life saver(remember to take as many of the dvd movies you own).

We were at the park for 2 days, 1 day off, 3 days back at the park and the last day was a rest day. On 1 of the rest day, we drove to Daytona(about 1 hr drive from orlando). Our total cost including food, gas, park ticket, and misc was about 3,000.

Definitely find a way to go down to Orlando. We were there over the Christmas break and the temperature was in the low 80's the first 4 days. It was such a great vacation that I plan to schedule more mini- weekend vacations in the future.
